High potential and gifted education

Some students learn faster and more easily than others. These students may shine in creativity, thinking, leadership or sport. High potential and gifted education is delivered in all NSW public schools through a combination of in-class, whole school and system level programs, practices and procedures.

At Weilmoringle, we aim to recognise and nurture these strengths early, supporting advanced learners with great lessons and activities to help them grow and thrive. We create inclusive environments to support all students by recognising, respecting and valuing diversity.

Recognising potential and developing talent

Potential exists along a continuum, where different levels of potential require different approaches. Using valid, objective, and reliable measures to assess and identify high potential and gifted students, our teachers nurture each student to be the best they can be.

Tailored lessons

We foster a culture of high expectations and equity in excellence, ensuring every student has the opportunity to develop their potential into talent. We do this with:

Effective teaching strategies like enrichment, extension and acceleration

Tailored support during lessons that stretch, challenge and inspire

Opening doors to wider experiences

Being from a regional area gives our school the chance to be innovative in our approach to high potential and gifted learners. We partner with other regional schools and community organisations to deliver experiences and opportunities for all students to develop their potential across all domains: creative, intellectual, physical and social-emotional.

Extracurricular activities

We engage our students in a range of activities within the community by collaborating with other remote schools for virtual learning, sports days, and learning outside of the classroom.
